They used to do these things before Monster truck shows, it was the most entertaining part of the show. Haven’t seen any live in years though.

It’s amazing how horrible the durango does compared to the cherokee’s. The second chreokee could have done multiple laps.

It’s the redneck Washington, ‘Single car destruction derby’, after regular destruction derby was banned as being violently confrontational.

These guys must really hate their cars. Would love to see the size of the pile of broken off bits at the end of the day.

Driver played a part in that also. Durango floored it and burried the nose.

I saw a tough truck show once. Right before or an intermission for a monster truck show. One guy put his DD in the tough truck competition, snow plow mount and everything. It either ended badly or spectacularly depending on your point of view.

Did they require that the driver couldn’t ever let go of the gas? They were going so fast!

“It either ended badly or spectacularly”
I would argue: Both are possible simultaneously.

Sad to hear they don’t do this anymore. It was the best part of the last one I went to but that was the early 90s for .me.
![]() 07/27/2016 at 00:19 |

I’d say it ended spectacularly bad

Just for comparison I was really hoping a trophy truck would tear through the course at 40 mph at the end.

While it’s a thing of beauty watching a Gen 1 Montero do what it was made to do (kinda, Dakar champions) it made me sad, as those LWB Gen1 Monteros are hard to come by!
My dad had one growing up, 89 . Fully loaded. With the lockers. The thing was super frigging cool, even more cool points was that nobody had them at the time. Oh and factor in the inclinometer along with other cool guages and buttons on the dash. The pies de resistance, was the front suspension seats!!
Countless memories of my childhood, spent sitting in the back on the mini jump seats.
He put 300k miles on her, the demise was one day while pulling a trailer it caught on fire...that was the end of that.
After he passed away, I was going through his papers and found the original sales invoice from Potamkin Mitsubishi in Plainfield NJ. After taxes, features, titles and fees (imported from Japan, he paid over $24,000!! Mega dollars back in 1988
